Pahang Sultan Orders Statewide Special Prayers for Zara Qairina

KUANTAN: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has directed that all mosques and surau in the state hold a solat hajat khas (special prayer) for Zara Qairina Mahathir.

According to a post on the Kesultanan Pahang Facebook page, the prayers aim to seek Allah SWT’s guidance in all matters concerning the pursuit of justice for Zara, so that the truth will be revealed and upheld.

“His Royal Highness also prayed for the parents and family of the deceased, that they may be blessed with strength, resilience, and patience during this difficult period,” the post read.

Zara, a 13-year-old student at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar, Sabah, was found unconscious on July 16, believed to have fallen from her dormitory building. She was pronounced dead the following day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE).

On July 31, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun stated that investigators are not ruling out the possibility of bullying in the case.

On August 9, her grave was exhumed for a post-mortem examination, which was carried out yesterday at HQE and lasted about eight hours. Her remains were reburied at 1.15am today at the Tanjung Ubi Muslim Cemetery in Mesapol.
