UNITED STATES, 10 October 2025 – “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston has shared that she spent nearly twenty years quietly trying to have a baby through IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) treatments.
The actress spoke to Harper’s Bazaar magazine, revealing the personal heartache she endured while facing years of media speculation.
During this time, tabloids relentlessly criticized her, falsely portraying her as selfish and overly focused on her career because she did not have children.
“They didn’t know my story, or what I’d been going through over the past 20 years to try to pursue a family,” Aniston said.
The 56-year-old star revealed she finally felt forced to speak out publicly in a 2016 article to put an end to the false stories.
The persistent rumors that she was choosing her career over a family, including lies that her 2005 divorce from Brad Pitt was due to this choice, had become unbearable. She previously called those divorce rumors “absolute lies.”
Aniston emphasized that she shared her personal journey not just for herself, but also to help other women who are currently dealing with the emotional difficulty of IVF and fertility struggles.
The actress, who is currently promoting the latest season of her series, The Morning Show, also discussed how the problem of cruelty has changed.
She noted that while traditional tabloid culture has become weaker, that same cruelty has moved to social media, where “any schmuck can stay anonymous and write whatever the hell they want.”
