Paris, 20 September 2025 — Huawei Technologies unveiled two new watch models and globally launched its Nova 14 smartphone in a Paris event, underscoring its intent to expand its presence beyond China even as major competitors roll out their own flagships.
The two timepieces—the Huawei Watch GT 6 and the Watch Ultimate 2—stand out for their improved fitness and mapping capabilities. The Watch GT 6 comes in 41 mm and 46 mm variants, with battery lives of 14 and 21 days respectively for the smaller and larger versions. Huawei has also improved the watch’s positioning accuracy by around 20 per cent through enhanced antenna design, algorithm updates, and support for NavIC (India’s navigation satellite system) as a sixth satellite positioning system.
The Watch Ultimate 2 is aimed at more extreme environments. It features a “mechanical seal” protecting its speaker and microphone for underwater use at depths up to 150 metres, and includes sonar-based watch-to-watch communication up to 30 metres underwater—modelled on how dolphins communicate.
In addition to wearables, Huawei officially rolled out the Nova 14 series to overseas markets, about four months after its China debut. The move coincided with Apple beginning deliveries of the iPhone 17 globally, setting up a fresh clash between competitors in the smartphone space.
Despite regulatory and market headwinds, Huawei maintains its dominance in the wearable sector—according to IDC, in Q2 2025 the company shipped 9.9 million wrist-worn devices, capturing about 20 per cent of the global market—holding the top spot ahead of Xiaomi and Apple for a second consecutive quarter.
