Kuala Lumpur, 17 September 2025 — Scientex Berhad closed its financial year ended 31 July 2025 with a net profit of RM530.8 million, slightly down from RM545.2 million in the previous year, yet still marking a strong performance in a challenging business environment. The group also posted a record revenue of RM4.52 billion, edging past last year’s RM4.48 billion, supported by robust showings from its property division and steady resilience in packaging.
In its fourth quarter (4Q FY2025), Scientex reported net profit of RM154.3 million, up 13.6% from RM135.9 million in the same period in FY2024, while revenue grew modestly by 2.1% to RM1.19 billion from RM1.17 billion.
Sector performance: Property lifts while packaging feels the pinch
The property segment was a major driver of revenue growth. During FY2025, property revenue rose to RM2.03 billion, from RM1.88 billion a year earlier. The division benefited from steady sales, healthy take-up rates, and new housing launches across Penang, Perak, Selangor, Melaka and Johor. Scientex also strengthened its development pipeline, with land acquisitions totalling 3,735 acres in areas like Muar, Bestari Jaya, Jawi, Pulai, Sungai Petani and Paya Rumput.
By contrast, the packaging division saw softer performance. Revenue for FY2025 fell to RM2.48 billion down from RM2.59 billion, due primarily to weaker export demand, challenges from exchange rates, and intensified competition abroad. In 4Q however, despite these headwinds, the packaging division held up reasonably, though its revenue dropped around 6.0% compared to the same quarter last year.
Dividends, margins, and outlook
Reflecting its profitability, Scientex has proposed a single-tier final dividend of 6 sen per share, which together with the interim dividend of 6 sen paid in July 2025, brings total dividends for the year to 12 sen per share. The total dividend payout amounts to RM186.8 million, or roughly 35.2% of the net profit for FY2025.
While revenue growth was record-setting, net profit was slightly lower, reflecting margin pressures within packaging and external cost pressures. Also notable is that the modest dip suggests packaging is more exposed to cyclical risks such as foreign exchange fluctuations and export market softness, while property remains a stabiliser for Scientex.
Scientex’s performance continues to align with its longer-term goals. The company had laid out its Vision 2028, targeting RM10 billion in annual revenue and doubling net profit relative to its FY2023 results, especially via aggressive property development and enhancing its packaging output. Its land bank, development pipeline and output expansion efforts are central to this strategy.
Strategic implications
For investors, Scientex’s results offer mixed signals: strong topline momentum and stable growth in property are positive, while packaging’s challenges may moderate future profit expansion. The raised land bank and property launches hint at sustained growth in property, which could further support earnings in the coming years, provided cost and regulatory pressures are managed.
Given the global packaging sector’s volatility, diversification across geographies, cost controls, automation, and value-added product lines will likely be areas where Scientex must focus to maintain competitiveness.
