KUALA LUMPUR, 14 September 2025 — Nigel Ng, the Malaysian-born comedian who rose to global fame as Uncle Roger, has officially tied the knot with his best friend, Miami-born lawyer Sabrina Ahmed, in a lavish three-day wedding in Sintra, Portugal that blended cultures, traditions, and personal history.
The festivities, covered by Vogue, unfolded across multiple stages: a sunset cruise, a vibrant sangeet, a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, and a grand reception that capped off the celebration. The choice of Portugal was not random — it was deeply symbolic for the couple.
“We saw ourselves reflected in Portugal’s aesthetic landscape. There is an elegant interweaving of Chinese, Islamic and Indian influences — most notably in the iconic blue-and-white azulejos, whose patterns were inspired by Chinese porcelain and echo motifs from Rajasthani and Moorish tilework,” Sabrina explained, describing how the country’s cultural mosaic mirrored their shared identities.
The couple’s attire became another storytelling device. Over the course of the celebrations, Ng and Ahmed donned four different outfits, each one carrying cultural and emotional significance. Their jewellery and fabrics reflected not just heritage but the chapters of their relationship.
A Romance Born of Chance
Their love story began in 2022 under serendipitous circumstances. At the time, Sabrina was working as a corporate lawyer for a luxury resort real estate developer in Miami. She first encountered Ng when he performed at one of the company’s property shows.
“He (my friend) described Nigel as a guy who ‘jokes about rice’, which didn’t sound that compelling. But after I started watching his show, I realised he was hilarious and, beyond the glare of the orange shirt, actually very cute,” she recalled with a laugh.
Life, however, wasn’t straightforward. Sabrina was facing family health challenges and joined a dating app for distraction. Fate intervened when one of the very first profiles she came across was none other than Nigel Ng himself. Captivated by her “elegance and beauty,” Ng messaged immediately and even offered to fly her to Boston for their first meeting.
“We met at Boston Airport on Nov 11, 2022 at Terminal 3, when our flights, originally scheduled hours apart, both ended up landing at exactly 3pm. Everything felt destined and effortless. I was full of anticipation that week, and when I finally saw her, she was even more stunning in person and so easy to talk to,” Ng said, recalling their first encounter.
Building a Life Together
By March 2023, Ng was certain Sabrina was the one. He admired her independence and sharp intellect, while she appreciated his quiet devotion to family — a quality she found rare and grounding. Within months, the couple relocated to London, choosing the city as a base for both their professional and personal lives.
A year later, Ng proposed beneath the cherry blossoms in Tokyo, a carefully chosen gesture that reflected Sabrina’s love of flowers. The moment cemented what both already knew: their bond was meant to last.
A Marriage with Laughter
The wedding itself was as much a celebration of love as it was a reflection of Ng’s comedic persona. True to character, he announced the marriage on Facebook with humour, writing: “Now someone please help my uncle find a wife.”
The post garnered over 2,000 comments, with fans and followers flooding the thread with well-wishes and light-hearted jokes. It was a reminder that while Ng may now be a husband, he remains the same comedian who made millions laugh by roasting fried rice videos and embodying the character of Uncle Roger.
As the festivities in Sintra drew to a close, the couple’s journey came full circle — from chance meetings in airports to cherry blossoms in Tokyo, and now to vows exchanged against the timeless backdrop of Portugal’s palaces. For Ng and Sabrina, the wedding was more than just a ceremony. It was a narrative woven from heritage, humour, and the quiet conviction that sometimes, love is written as much by destiny as by choice.
