Johor Bahru, 8 November 2026 – A RM50 million property acquisition in Johor Bahru is highlighting renewed interest in existing development assets, as investors assess opportunities associated with the city’s expanding economic relationship with Singapore.

SKS Group and MB World Group have acquired hotel and residential components above Capital City Mall in Tampoi for approximately RM50 million.

The proposed development carries a preliminary estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM680 million, comprising a 315-room hotel and 1,320 serviced apartment units.

Construction is targeted to begin in the first quarter of 2027, subject to the necessary preparations and approvals.

The transaction raises an important investment question: can acquiring existing property assets offer better commercial value than developing entirely new projects?
