Port Klang, 5 November 2026 – Daiso Industries Co Ltd opened its global distribution centre in Pulau Indah, Selangor, as Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged Malaysia to capture more value from international trade. The facility, reported to involve MYR 1.2 billion in investment, is Daiso’s largest warehouse worldwide and will serve 27 countries across Asia and the Middle East.
For Malaysian logistics companies and suppliers, the opening points to opportunities beyond moving containers through a port. Goods will be sorted, stored and repacked locally before redistribution. Those activities can create demand for services and skills, but the opening accounts did not quantify new jobs, local procurement contracts or the centre’s expected annual contribution to Malaysia’s economy.
