Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 4 November 2026 – BIMB Securities expects Bank Negara Malaysia to leave the Overnight Policy Rate unchanged on 5 November, despite money-market pricing that it interprets as pointing towards an increase. The research house said the spread between three-month Kuala Lumpur Interbank Offered Rate and the policy rate had widened to 81 basis points, against an average of about 42 basis points.

For Malaysian businesses and investors, the disagreement matters because funding markets can anticipate policy differently from equity analysts or economists. The wider spread is an observed market comparison reported in the note, while an unchanged policy rate is BIMB Securities’ forecast. Neither establishes the central bank’s decision before it is announced, and the gap is not itself an 81-basis-point policy increase.
