Tokyo, Japan, 2 November 2026 – The Bank of Japan (BOJ) said underlying inflation was generally consistent with its 2% target in its October outlook released on Monday, while leaving its policy rate guidance at around 1.25% after the 30 October meeting. The Policy Board’s median forecast for consumer inflation excluding fresh food in fiscal 2027 rose to 2.6%, from 2.4% in its July projections.
For Asian businesses and investors, the report matters because Japan’s rate path, yen and import costs can feed into financing, trade and portfolio decisions across the region. The confirmed facts are the BOJ’s inflation assessment and revised forecast; the regional implications are analysis, not a forecast from the bank. The report does not set a date for another rate change, so investors still need to weigh incoming wage, price, currency and demand data.
