Kuala Lumpur, 2 November 2026 – Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) and its partners have signed farm-out agreements for an integrated development of the Lang Lebah and B14 offshore gas fields in Sarawak. The fields are estimated to contain more than 6.5 trillion cubic feet of gas resources and are planned to supply the existing Malaysia LNG liquefaction plant at a production plateau of about 10 billion cubic metres a year. Subject to regulatory approvals and completion of the agreements, TotalEnergies will operate both fields with a 30% interest; PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) will each hold 25%, while PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd. will hold 20%.
The project matters to Asian energy buyers and investors because it would connect a large offshore resource base to Malaysia’s established liquefied natural gas infrastructure. The confirmed agreements set out the partners’ interests and intended integrated approach, but they are not evidence of current production or a final investment decision. Approval, project design, capital requirements and development timing will determine whether the planned output can be delivered and when.
