Singapore, 27 October 2026 – The Singapore government has committed S$150 million to the Materials Accelerator for Research, Venture and Enterprise Launchpad, or Marvel-AI, a new platform designed to speed the discovery and commercial use of advanced materials. Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong announced the investment on 27 October at the Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology, placing artificial intelligence, robotics and high-throughput experimentation at the centre of the initiative.
For Asian manufacturers and investors, the programme matters because materials performance can determine the cost, efficiency and competitiveness of products ranging from semiconductors to energy systems. Marvel-AI is intended to shorten the path from laboratory research to industrial validation. If execution matches the design, companies could test more candidates, reject weak options earlier and direct capital towards materials with clearer commercial potential, although the platform’s returns will depend on industry adoption and successful scale-up.
