Manila, 22 October 2026 – The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas raised its target reverse-repurchase rate by 50 basis points to 5.50%, its fourth consecutive increase. The move followed a 25-basis-point increase to 5.00% on 22 September and was larger than the quarter-point rise expected by all 27 economists surveyed before the decision.

The rate and size of the increase are confirmed policy actions. Their effect on prices, the peso and domestic demand will depend on transmission through banks and on external factors such as oil and food costs.
