Washington, 13 October 2026 – United States vehicle-safety officials have opened a defect-petition review into allegations that Tesla Robotaxis exceeded posted speed limits in active school zones. The action covers model-year 2026 Model Y and Cybercab vehicles operating with Tesla’s Automated Driving System and an estimated population of 1,000 vehicles.

Officials will decide whether the evidence justifies a formal investigation, a distinction investors should preserve when assessing the regulatory risk.
