Kuala Lumpur, 12 October 2026 – Malaysia’s Budget 2027 offers middle-income households a larger personal tax buffer, combining a higher individual relief threshold with lower rates across two income bands. The government estimates that the package could provide about five million taxpayers with up to RM1,600 in additional disposable income, creating a measured lift for household finances rather than a broad consumption windfall.

The basic individual relief will rise from RM9,000 to RM12,000, its first revision since 2010. Resident taxpayers with chargeable income from RM70,001 to RM100,000 will see the applicable rate reduced by one percentage point to 18%. The rate for chargeable income from RM100,001 to RM150,000 will also fall by one point, to 24%.
