Kuala Lumpur, 9 October 2026 – Malaysia expects gross domestic product to expand between 4.2% and 5.2% in 2027, supported by domestic demand, continued investment and a stable labour market. The forecast follows estimated growth of 4.8% to 5.3% in 2026 and accompanies a federal spending plan of RM459.8 billion, equivalent to 19.8% of projected GDP.

The 2027 allocation is 3.6% above the revised 2026 level. Operating expenditure is set at RM376.8 billion, representing 81.9% of the total, while development expenditure is RM83 billion. Within the development allocation, the economic sector receives 45.4%, the social sector 33.7%, security 14.7% and general administration 6.2%.
