Malaysia Strengthens AI Risk Training as Deepfakes Challenge Digital Trust

Malaysia's Digital Ministry will update AI training as deepfakes, voice cloning and scams create new risks for government, businesses and citizens.

Kuala Lumpur, 8 October 2026 – Malaysia’s Digital Ministry is strengthening artificial-intelligence training as deepfakes, voice cloning and AI-enabled scams create new risks for citizens, civil servants and businesses. The work is being coordinated through AI Malaysia Bhd, which is developing talent programmes while examining how emerging threats should be incorporated into training and prevention.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said modules would be updated whenever new risks and countermeasures were identified. AI Malaysia’s AI Safe initiative brings together experts to examine security concerns. The approach recognises that responsible adoption cannot rely on static guidance when generative systems and misuse techniques are evolving rapidly.
