Kuala Lumpur, 6 October 2026 – Malaysia has identified five technology drivers as both critical to national sovereignty and commercially promising, sharpening the country’s innovation agenda around artificial intelligence, sensors and semiconductors, cybersecurity, big-data analytics and next-generation communications.
The five priorities were selected from nine drivers assessed under the National Technology Sovereignty Framework. The focus is intended to guide domestic capability-building towards technologies that underpin public services, industrial competitiveness and national resilience. For investors, the announcement narrows the areas most likely to receive coordinated policy attention, although it does not by itself constitute a funding allocation, procurement award or revenue forecast.
