Wellington, 6 October 2026 – New Zealand’s governing National Party has fallen to 25.9% support in a new poll, its weakest showing since the 2020 election, turning household dissatisfaction and a fragmented party system into a material policy risk one month before voters choose the next government.
The RNZ-Reid Research poll showed National down 3.2 percentage points from August. Labour also slipped, falling 1.4 points to 30.8% for a third consecutive decline, while the Greens rose to 14.8%. New Zealand First registered 10.6%, ACT reached 9%, and the Opportunity Party stood at 5.5%, leaving coalition arithmetic dependent on several parties rather than a simple contest between the two largest blocs.
