Singapore, 28 September 2026 – About 16,000 Grab private-hire drivers are expected to receive higher income-tax bills after incomplete earnings information was submitted to Singapore’s tax authority. The tax authority’s account, given in response to questions on Monday, says records for roughly 28,000 drivers in the Year of Assessment 2026 pre-filing scheme were affected. The two figures describe different groups: 28,000 had understated records, while approximately 16,000 are expected to owe additional tax after reassessment.
Grab told the authority at the end of July about the incomplete submission. A company notice attributed the omission to a system error that excluded some payments, including incentives, tips and miscellaneous earnings. The authority says it has received corrected records and is revising notices of assessment. For most of the 16,000 drivers facing an increase, the additional bill is expected to be less than S$100, though individual amounts depend on income and reliefs.
