Kuala Lumpur, 22 September 2026 – The Malaysian Palm Oil Council expects crude palm oil prices to stay above RM4,700 a tonne in October and potentially through the rest of the year, as dry weather in Southeast Asia and stronger energy markets offset the drag from high Malaysian inventories.

The outlook follows mixed August data. Malaysia’s palm oil production rose 1.4% from July to 1.81 million tonnes as fruit-bunch collection and extraction rates improved, but output remained below its year-earlier level for a sixth consecutive month. Exports, meanwhile, fell 7.5% month on month to 1.29 million tonnes, reflecting weaker shipments to South Asia and the Middle East.
