The onshore yuan reached 6.6950 per dollar and closed at 6.6955, its strongest domestic finish since June 2022. The offshore currency traded near 6.6946. Before trading began, the People’s Bank of China set the daily midpoint at 6.7487, its strongest fixing since February 2023. The onshore rate may move within a 2% band around that reference point.
