Anthony Loke Offers to Resign as Transport Minister Over Najib House Arrest

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has offered to resign as Transport Minister following the conditional pardon allowing former prime minister Najib Razak to serve his remaining sentence under house arrest.

Kuala Lumpur, 19 September 2026 – DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has offered to resign as Malaysia’s Transport Minister following the conditional royal pardon allowing former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.

Loke announced the decision after a three-hour meeting of the DAP Central Executive Committee on Saturday, saying he had proposed stepping down from the Cabinet as the party’s response to the development involving Najib. He said his resignation letter would be submitted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, with reports indicating this is expected on 21 September.
