Kuala Lumpur, 17 September 2026 – AstraZeneca Malaysia and the Malaysian Society of Nephrology have signed a two-year memorandum of understanding to strengthen awareness and professional education around atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome, or aHUS. The collaboration centres on patient-focused, non-promotional initiatives supporting timely recognition, appropriate referral and coordinated multidisciplinary care.

The society’s president, Dr Rosnawati Yahya, highlighted the difficulty of recognising a condition that can present across different healthcare settings. She warned that delayed recognition and treatment may lead to severe kidney complications. The agreement is an education and care-pathway initiative, not an announcement of a new medicine, regulatory approval or proven improvement in patient outcomes.
