Kuala Lumpur, 8 September 2026 – Gas Malaysia Bhd and PETRONAS Gas Bhd have formalised a joint study into an onshore lateral pipeline that would connect the proposed liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Yan, Kedah, with the Peninsular Gas Utilisation network. The agreement advances an essential infrastructure assessment while stopping short of a final commitment to construct the link.
The joint study and collaboration agreement establishes the parties’ responsibilities, cost-sharing principles and reimbursement mechanisms. It forms part of the requirements attached to the Energy Commission’s Letter to Proceed for the Yan terminal, which Gas Malaysia received on 18 March 2026. The study will generate technical and commercial evidence needed for the project’s regulatory submissions and eventual investment decision.
