Guangzhou/Beijing, 7 September 2026 – Huawei has launched the Mate XT2, a new tri-fold flagship smartphone built around its Kirin 9050 Pro processor, intensifying competition at the premium end of China’s handset market. The release reinforces Huawei’s strategy of using distinctive hardware and domestic chip design to defend its market leadership.
The Mate XT2 folds twice to create a tablet-sized display, extending a product category in which Huawei remains the only major brand with a commercially available tri-fold device. Prices start at 19,999 yuan, equivalent to about US$2,980, and reach 24,999 yuan for the highest specification. Sales are scheduled to begin on 12 September.
