Beijing, 3 September 2026 – China’s services purchasing managers’ index rose to 51.4 in August from 50.4 in July, signalling a faster expansion in business activity while revealing continued differences between domestic and external demand. The latest survey suggests domestic new business improved, giving operators greater confidence that local activity can offset at least part of the pressure from a less predictable global environment.
