i-City and Wyndham Seal RM200m Deal to Launch Malaysia’s First AI-Powered Hotel

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s most iconic smart city, i-City, has inked a RM200 million partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts to debut Wyndham i-City this December — a landmark launch that fuses artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and hospitality into a single futuristic ecosystem.

The 200-suite property will open in tandem with i-City AI World, a next-generation AI and robotics experience centre that cements the Shah Alam township’s transformation into Malaysia’s first AI and robotics urban centre. Together, these projects aim to place Malaysia firmly on the global smart tourism map.

A new chapter in “tech-tourism”

Wyndham i-City’s fully equipped one- to three-bedroom suites, complete with kitchens, are designed for families, long-stay guests, and international business travellers. Building on the strong performance of Wyndham Suites KLCC, which has seen stellar occupancy since its opening, i-City is banking on AI-driven attractions to encourage longer stays and higher visitor spending.

Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, Chairman of I-Bhd, called the launch a bold leap forward:

“With AI World and our alliance with AgiBot, we are taking the next bold step to position i-City as Malaysia’s first AI & Robotics Experience Centre. Wyndham i-City will be a cornerstone of this transformation, offering guests a glimpse of how the future of hospitality and technology can seamlessly converge.”

The AI-powered theme extends beyond hotel rooms. i-City is shaping up as a blueprint for smart urban living, where technology integrates with tourism, property, and lifestyle to create new economic engines.

Elevating Malaysia’s smart tourism credentials

The Wyndham–i-City partnership has already produced headline attractions such as WynSnow, a year-round indoor snow experience, and WynSports, an active entertainment hub. Wyndham i-City is expected to extend that innovation streak.

“From WynSnow to WynSports, our collaborations with Wyndham have consistently raised the bar for guest experiences,” Lim added.

Hospitality meets AI & robotics

For Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the project signals a deeper dive into AI-powered hospitality.

Beyond tourism, i-City has laid out plans to integrate robotics and AI into healthcare, urban living, and wellness-focused residences via future projects such as AI Park.
