Vietnam-Singapore Digital Trade Pilot Targets Faster Letter-of-Credit Verification

Hanoi, Vietnam, 18 August 2026 – Vietnam and Singapore are moving toward a shared digital-trust layer for cross-border trade, starting with a pilot that applies verifiable credentials to letters of credit between participating banks.

The initiative follows a memorandum of understanding between Vietnam’s PILA and Singapore’s TOTM Technologies. The companies plan to research and develop a proof of concept using the Infocomm Media Development Authority’s TradeTrust framework. The objective is to let banks verify the issuer and integrity of trade documents faster, reducing manual checks while preserving the existing legal and payment structure of letters of credit.
