Hong Kong Court Orders SDIC Commodities Unit Liquidated Over Billion-Yuan Debt

Hong Kong, 17 August 2026 – A Hong Kong court has ordered SDIC Commodities Hongkong Co Ltd to be wound up after a lender sought repayment of more than CNY1 billion, deepening scrutiny of counterparty and governance risks across a connected commodities-trading network.

Nanyang Commercial Bank filed the petition for debt exceeding CNY1 billion, equivalent to about US$148 million or RM605 million. The amount was not disputed, and the company did not present a payment timetable acceptable to the court, leaving liquidation as the formal route for creditors to pursue recoveries.
