Jakarta, 15 August 2026 – Indonesia’s headline growth rate has reached its strongest pace in 13 years, but the composition of expansion and evidence from jobs, inequality and the middle class present a more complicated picture for investors assessing domestic demand.
President Prabowo Subianto cited first-quarter growth of 5.61% and cumulative first-half expansion of 5.45% in an annual address to lawmakers. Official data show that the first-quarter year-on-year rate was indeed higher than comparable readings since 2013. Gross domestic product reached Rp6,187.2 trillion at current prices and Rp3,447.7 trillion at constant 2010 prices.
