Seoul, 13 August 2026 – SK Hynix is advancing one of the semiconductor industry’s most ambitious capacity programmes as artificial intelligence drives demand for high-bandwidth memory and data-centre infrastructure. Its long-range plans encompass production clusters, advanced packaging and nationwide computing capacity, reinforcing South Korea’s position in the memory supply chain while exposing investors to exceptional capital, execution and infrastructure requirements.
The company has outlined approximately 400 trillion won for a new semiconductor cluster in Korea’s southwestern region, complementing its Yongin base. SK Group also plans to build 15 gigawatts of AI data-centre capacity nationwide in phases, including a proposed 1-gigawatt facility in the southwest. Separately, SK Hynix has approved 54 trillion won for new facilities at Yongin and Cheongju to support medium- and long-term demand for AI memory.
