Malaysia Tests Palm-Based Cooling Fluid for Water-Stressed Data Centres

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 12 August 2026 – Malaysian researchers are developing a palm-based liquid for cooling computer servers, offering a possible response to the rising water and energy demands created by the country’s rapid data-centre expansion.

The Malaysian Palm Oil Board is developing the technology under the name Sawit EcoTherm. The system is designed to cool servers without relying on the large volumes of water required by conventional cooling configurations, and the research is approaching commercialisation.
