Malaysia Targets RM85.24 Billion Utility Savings Under NEEAP 2.0

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 11 August 2026 – Malaysia’s new ten-year energy-efficiency plan targets RM85.24 billion in utility savings and an 11.6% reduction in national energy demand by 2035, positioning lower consumption as both an economic-productivity tool and a pillar of the country’s energy transition.

The National Energy Efficiency Policy and Action Plan 2026–2035 aims to generate cumulative energy savings of 815,383 terajoules and avoid 26,108 kilotonnes of carbon-dioxide-equivalent emissions. It is supported by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2024, which strengthens the institutional framework for managing consumption.
