Enterprise AI Inference Costs Hit 2026 Low as Price War Intensifies

Hong Kong, 10 August 2026 – The average cost for businesses to run artificial intelligence models has fallen to its lowest level of 2026, strengthening the economic case for enterprise adoption while intensifying pressure on model providers to defend margins and market share.

Average inference prices ranged from US$1.16 to US$1.18 per million tokens between 6 and 8 August, according to pricing data tracked across business application programming interfaces and open-weight inference platforms. The level represents a sharp decline from US$2.04 on 31 May and US$1.45 in late July, showing how quickly model economics are changing.
