Kuala Lumpur, 7 August 2026 – Nurul Izzah Anwar has sought to step aside from the deputy presidency of Malaysia’s People’s Justice Party, opening another period of leadership adjustment within the political organisation headed by her father, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Nurul Izzah said she wanted to leave the position after careful consideration as she turns towards further studies and commitments outside the political arena. She will remain a PKR member and has pledged continued support for the party, its grassroots and Anwar’s leadership.
