Seoul, 6 August 2026 – Investors are pressing Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix to increase dividends and share buybacks as surging demand for artificial intelligence memory chips generates record profits and an unprecedented accumulation of cash.

The world’s two largest memory-chip manufacturers are projected to hold a combined US$263 billion in net cash by the end of 2026. That would be more than double Nvidia’s estimated US$102 billion and greater than the combined cash holdings of the other six companies commonly grouped among the largest US technology stocks.
