Kuala Lumpur, 6 August 2026 – Malaysia’s banks, asset owners and fund managers have been urged to provide financing earlier in the growth journey of promising domestic companies, as the government seeks to develop more businesses capable of competing across regional markets.

Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said public capital could create opportunities and establish credible economic foundations, but private-sector investment would need to drive most future innovation, expansion and commercial risk-taking.
