Putrajaya, 2 August 2026 – Malaysia’s Hybrid Workday policy has entered into force, allowing eligible civil servants to work three days in the office and two days from home or another approved location as part of the government’s public-service reform agenda.
Effective from 1 August, the arrangement establishes hybrid work as an operating model rather than an emergency response. Eligibility is not automatic across every role: department heads must consider service requirements, job suitability and prescribed conditions before approving remote days. That distinction is central because public-sector flexibility must coexist with uninterrupted access to essential services.
