Johor Baru, 1 August 2026 – Malaysia’s Queen has called for a more open response to mental health, warning that stigma continues to prevent people from seeking professional support and leaves many to manage serious difficulties in silence.
Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, addressed the issue at the University of Reading Malaysia’s 10th convocation, where she received an Honorary Doctorate in Psychology. She said adults are carrying pressures ranging from financial hardship and debt to strained family relationships, while children and adolescents face significant mental-health challenges of their own.
