DoorDash’s Kimi Review Turns Chinese AI Procurement Into a Board-Level Risk

Washington, 1 August 2026 – US lawmakers have asked DoorDash to explain its use of Moonshot AI’s Kimi K2.6 model, transforming an engineering procurement decision into a test of corporate cybersecurity, national-security exposure and board oversight. The inquiry reflects growing concern in Washington as US companies experiment with capable, lower-cost Chinese artificial intelligence models.

Two House committee chairmen requested information from DoorDash chief executive Tony Xu by 14 August on every Chinese model used by the company and the security testing applied. They also sought an in-person staff briefing by 21 August involving personnel responsible for artificial intelligence infrastructure, software security, model evaluation, procurement and legal or compliance review.
