Linde’s US$1 Billion Arizona Investment Deepens the Chip Supply Chain

Phoenix, 31 July 2026 – Linde plans to invest US$1 billion in Arizona after securing a semiconductor supply agreement, adding another major supplier commitment to the state’s expanding chip-manufacturing cluster. The project highlights how investment is spreading from fabrication plants into the specialised gases, utilities and logistics systems required to operate them.

Semiconductor production depends on ultra-high-purity gases for deposition, etching, cleaning and process control. Reliability is critical because interruptions can damage wafers and halt tightly calibrated production lines. A large on-site or nearby supply network therefore becomes part of the manufacturing infrastructure rather than a conventional commodity input.
