Malaysia’s E&E Sector Gains as Global Supply Chains Shift Across Asia

Kuala Lumpur, 27 July 2026 – Malaysia’s electrical and electronics sector has emerged as a major beneficiary of global supply-chain restructuring, although its longer-term competitiveness will depend on creating more domestic value beyond re-exports and intermediate processing.

UOB Global Economics & Markets Research said the escalation of US tariffs in April 2025 accelerated economic separation between the United States and China, redirecting Chinese exports, manufacturing activity and investment towards alternative markets.
