Global Decline in Male Testosterone Raises Healthcare and Economic Concerns

London, 20 July 2026 – Average testosterone levels among men may have fallen sharply over the past five decades, raising concerns about reproductive health, chronic disease and the growing economic burden facing healthcare systems worldwide.

A new meta-analysis presented at an international reproductive medicine conference in London estimated that total testosterone levels declined by approximately 54% between 1972 and 2019. The analysis combined six longitudinal studies involving 118,593 men from Israel, the United States, Brazil, Finland and Denmark.
