Maybank IBG Lifts Malaysia’s 2026 GDP Forecast To 4.9% Amid Stronger Momentum

Kuala Lumpur, 6 July 2026 – Maybank Investment Banking Group has raised Malaysia’s 2026 gross domestic product growth forecast to 4.9% from 4.4%, citing resilient first-half momentum, stronger manufacturing activity and improving external trade conditions.

The upward revision reflects Malaysia’s stronger-than-expected economic performance despite heightened geopolitical risks and a more uncertain global environment.
