KUALA LUMPUR, 9 June 2026 — Alibaba Cloud has officially launched a new public cloud region in Johor, establishing two state-of-the-art data centres to meet Malaysia’s surging demand for cloud-native infrastructure and enterprise-grade artificial intelligence.
The expansion marks a major milestone in Alibaba’s massive US$53 billion global investment strategy announced in 2025. With this launch, Alibaba Cloud’s global footprint expands to 104 availability zones across 32 regions. Crucially, the Johor deployment brings Alibaba Cloud’s total data centre count in Malaysia to five, solidifying the country as the tech giant’s largest infrastructure hub in Southeast Asia.
