Kuala Lumpur, 26 May 2026 – Malaysia’s trade performance surged to a historic high in the first four months of 2026, with total trade rising 15.3% year-on-year to RM1.127 trillion, supported by strong demand for high-growth, high-value products and broader market diversification.
Exports climbed 19.0% to RM609.31 billion, while imports rose 11.1% to RM517.40 billion, marking the highest-ever values recorded for the January-to-April period. The strong export-led performance lifted Malaysia’s trade surplus to RM91.92 billion, a 99.1% increase from the previous year, effectively doubling the country’s external trade surplus.
