Bank Negara Malaysia Tightens Product Transparency Rules for Digital Financial Platforms

Kuala Lumpur, 22 May 2026 – Bank Negara Malaysia has strengthened transparency and disclosure standards for digital financial platforms, setting clearer expectations on how product information must be presented to consumers throughout the financial product life cycle.

The revised Policy Document on Product Transparency and Disclosure introduces enhanced requirements aimed at helping consumers make more informed decisions when selecting financial products that match their needs. BNM said the revisions include new requirements for product disclosure through digital channels, enhanced rules on the sharing of customer information for marketing and promotional purposes, revised requirements on the use of Bahasa Melayu, and stronger product disclosure sheet standards.
