Kuala Lumpur, 13 May 2026 – Malaysia has voiced strong objection to Norway’s decision not to approve the export permit for missile deliveries linked to the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship programme, warning that the move could affect the country’s defence operational readiness and strategic planning.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim raised the matter directly with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, according to Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who said the Cabinet had been briefed on the issue. Malaysia described the decision as unacceptable, particularly as the contract had been signed in 2018 and payments had been made according to schedule.
