KUALA LUMPUR, 13 May 2026 – CIMB Group has officially inaugurated CIMB Alumni, a purpose-driven platform engineered to reconnect and mobilise its extensive regional leadership network. The initiative aims to harness the collective influence of former and current employees to drive significant societal impact and strategic collaboration across Southeast Asia.

The platform serves as a conduit for mentorship, philanthropy, and knowledge exchange. It allows members to leverage their professional networks in support of CIMB’s long-term growth and community initiatives.

Tan Sri Nazir Razak, Chairman of CIMB Alumni, emphasised the institution’s evolution from a boutique merchant bank to a dominant ASEAN financial powerhouse:

“The Alumni serves as a bridge between what we have built and what lies ahead. Our connection with CIMB should not end when we leave. By bringing this network together with intent, we are creating a community that continues to shape outcomes beyond the institution.”

Strategic Objectives of the Alumni

The platform is structured around four pillars of engagement:

  • Knowledge Exchange: Facilitating high-level perspectives on regional market trends.
  • Leadership Development: Connecting seasoned alumni with emerging talent within the group.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Creating a ‘trusted-advisor’ ecosystem across borders.
  • Social Impact: Scaling existing humanitarian efforts, such as previous pandemic and flood relief, into a structured framework for collective action.

Culture as a Competitive Moat

Novan Amirudin, Group CEO of CIMB Group, noted that the bank’s unique ASEAN mindset was forged during the transformational mergers of the last two decades, as CIMB is an exceptional institution because of the foundation built by the people who came before, adding that the platform will ensure the ‘forward-looking and curious’ culture of CIMB remains a permanent fixture for its talent, past and present.
