Putrajaya, 13 May 2026 – The Communications Ministry has called for the establishment of a dedicated animation division within the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia to strengthen the country’s animation sector and unlock greater value from Malaysia’s creative economy.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the move is necessary because Malaysia’s animation industry has strong growth potential and was previously a preferred choice for international studios seeking Malaysian animators to produce animated content.
